Kitchen Cabinet Refacing

testimonials

I purchased a home in 2007 that had been built in 1978.  The cabinets and other features of the home were original and dated.  I wanted a way to update my kitchen and bathrooms without doing a total demolition or spending a year’s income.

I thought, “Why not reface these perfectly good cabinets?” and began my research.  I found a licensed professional installer who came to my house with all the samples to make my selections for wood, door and drawer styles, glass fronts, hardware and hinges.  I was guaranteed that the products used were wood veneer over the existing cabinetry.  New drawers and doors complete the updated look I was seeking, and all the products were produced in the Midwest of the United States by WalzCraft Industries.

Once I chose my wood (natural cherry) and door/drawer styles (Shaker), added in beveled glass fronts on some upper cabinets, chose hinges and hidden fingertip grooves vs. knobs and pulls, I was given an actual cost of materials and installation.  The price was half totally new cabinets and installation.  I knew my cabinets would be updated, thrifty but still solid wood, and also a “green” choice because the amount of new material was minimal compared to all new cabinetry.  I also ordered the bathrooms’ vanities refaced for matching cabinets throughout the house at minimal cost.

The cabinets were carefully measured and drawn to scale and the order placed.  The material arrived six weeks later. The installer came to remove the doors and drawers and started re-facing the cabinets.  I still had access to appliances and sinks, during the process that lasted 4 days.  The amount of dust was minimal and cleaned up each night.  It was great fun watching the “new” cabinetry appear and to have it all done quickly.

I love my “new” kitchen and bath cabinetry!  The work was professionally done with quality products in a timely fashion.  Visitors admire the look. I feel confident that my investment gives me “big bang for the bucks” enhancing my home resale value, while pleasing my sense of ownership and personal statement.  This has been one experience I’d do all over again!

Sincerely,
